While the weather may not be cooperating yet, Spring has officially sprung. As we begin to dust off the winter blues and re-energize, it’s time to refocus on promoting PT. Start your Spring cleaning by supporting some of the many initiatives working their way through legislation and the PT community.
- Support the Medicare Patient Empowerment Act of 2013 (HR 1310) to allow private contracting for physical therapy services, vital for all PT practices, especially physical therapy cash practices.
- PT school costs an arm and a leg (pardon the anatomy pun). Sign this petition to add physical therapists and occupational therapists to the federal loan forgiveness program. 100,000 signatures are needed by April 12, 2013.
- Troubles in the state of California continue. CA SB 381 was proposed in February, and if passed, would not allow physical therapists in California to perform joint manipulations or joint adjustments. Take these steps to show your opposition of the bill and follow the NO on California SB 3811 Facebook page to keep up to date on the latest details.
- A handful of states still do not have consumer direct access to physical therapy services (or have limited access). Show legislators in California that direct access will streamline health care delivery and increase consumer choice by filling out a simple form or sending your own letter.
